The poetry of years that have come to a standstill
Russian poet Boris Ryzhy (1974-2001) grew up in Sverdlovsk (Yekaterinburg), a disconsolate and harsh town, ruled by the mafia. Being a child of the eighties, ‘poet and bandit’, he was part of a lost generation. A year before his suicide, in 2000, Ryzhy was a guest at the festival Poetry International in Rotterdam. He took to excessive drinking, was robbed, made the rounds of the bars accompanied by some obscure lady and missed his wife and son. Regarding Ryzhy and his Rotterdam Diary, De Warme Winkel has created energetic theatre that is both aesthetic and raunchy. A sternly orchestrated tumult in which all dramatic means are deployed.

Когда, кстати, подъезжаешь к Роттердаму, бросается в глаза огромадная красивая мечеть. Город-порт, самая густая концентрация мигрантов в Нидерландах. Rotterdam, ruled by muslims.
